TBT Surly Moonlander Build Part 4 – Wheel Building Saga Take 2

TBT Surly Moonlander Build Part 4 – Wheel Building Saga Take 2

My new correctly sized spokes arrived on Friday and like a young boy at Christmas I was up early Saturday morning building wheels. This time the process went very fast the new spokes worked like a charm. I tensioned the offset rear wheel to the best of my ability. That 28mm Surly Moonlander rear wheel offset is pretty crazy! The front wheel tightened up perfectly. Here are some photos of the final build:

The front wheel for my Surly Moonlander consist of a Surly New Disk Rear Hub (single speed 135mm), DT Swiss Champion spokes, Chain Reaction Cycles FlatTop 80 rim, and Avid G2 160mm BB-7 Rotor.

  1. I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Either way keep up the excellent quality writing, it’s
rare to see a great blog like this one these days.
